Kaleigh’s KooKoo Krocodiles – SAC 3

We are so excited to have Ava join us this second session.  She has already made a huge impact.  She was instantly having fun and making friends!  She blew everyone away with her insane flexibility and other gymnastics skills.  We are so excited to learn more about Ava as this second session continues! Aditi is new to second session and has completely blown everyone away.  She made close friends as soon as she stepped on the camp grounds.  She also finds the fun in everything she does with the group! Samantha is a hilarious component to this camp.  Her sharp eye has her hunting for anything that could be out of the ordinary. She loves to find frogs and snakes.  Even though this part of camp is typically im sports camp, she cant help but get close to the action! We can’t wait for next week!

Amandie’s Candies have had an amazing first week of the second session! How is the summer more than half way over?! We’ve had a busy week filled with lots of fun!! Ava V. and Mia B. passed this week in swim!! As their former swim counselor, I was thrilled to see them swim so well and pass into white 4!! The girls also chose new classes this session and are thriving! Hallie M. is loving classes so far and is making amazing roses!! They are going to look amazing at the end of camp! Have a great weekend girls!! Love you

Sam’s Sweethearts – SAC 4

Sam’s Sweethearts has started off second session on a great note! Thankfully, we conquered an exceptionally hot week at camp! We had a great time at the movie theater watching the new Ice Age movie! Stefi successfully passed in swim, from a red to a blue. Way to go, Stefi! It was great to see her hard work pay off! We also had a new adventure going to the treehouse this week to play hide-and-go-seek! I think all of my girls had a fun time trying a new activity; especially, Avery, who was awesome at finding good hiding spots! I cannot wait for another fun week ahead of us!

Elana’s Elvis Elephants – SAC 5

This week has been an exciting first week of the second session! Unfortuneately, this was Danielle M. last week at camp, we had so much fun together with the 5 weeks that we had! We went to Spaceball Jumpshot this week and Ella D. attempted her front flip and she was so proud of herself, it was so amazing! Alexa D. decided to choose pottery for her class this session and she’s trying something new, which is super exciting! This has been an amazing week of the second session and can’t wait to find out what happens next with Elana’s Elvis Elephants!!

Rachelle’s Rabbits – SAC 5

This week I was introduced to Ayla and I was so impressed with her gymnastics skills! She is very talented and knows multiple advanced moves! I loved watching her and I can’t wait to see some more! I am also very proud of Natalie for moving up in instructional swim. On Monday she took her swim test and moved up from a blue to a white! Her hard work and determination really payed off! Can’t wait for week 6!

Nikki’s Nemos – SAC 6

This week marked the start of Session 2, and Nikki’s Nemos have gained a few more girls! Clara K., Cara M., and Anett V. auditioned for the play, The Descenants, and got awesome parts!! In addition, Erin K. has passed from the red to the blue level in swim! Awesome job Erin!! We are so proud of you. We’re all so excited to continue with the rest of the session with the new additions to our group!

Ali’s Angels – SAC 7/8

Ali’s Angels had a fun start to the second session. We celebrated Dylan’s 12th birthday on Wednesday! Happy birthday Dylan! Dylan has been especially good lately with the younger girls who frequently visit our group. Her kindness and pro older sibling skills shine through. We welcomed Allison (great name) to our group this week as well. Allison is funny and personable and we’re looking forward to having her with us for the coming session! This week has been a little unusual with the new campers, hot weather, and changing schedule, and I am grateful that I have such a wonderful group of girls who roll with the punches and hardly complain. I can’t wait for more fun times and memories with Ali’s Angels!

Morgan’s Butterflies

What a great start to the second session of camp! We started off by creating a new group name. Everyone decided on the name butterflies, so now we are Morgan’s Butterflies!! I love the name girls! It’s perfect! At space ball/jump shot, Ananya I. got the ball into the hoop four times! Way to go Ananya! It was so cool to watch her get the ball in every single time! In art this week, the girls made ice cream cones for national ice cream day. Leah G. created the coolest looking ice creams ever! Since it was so hot this week the whole cap went to go see a movie! We saw Ice Age and my butterflies were so excited! The butterflies had so much fun this week, and I hope they have this much fun for the rest of camp! Rest up girls! Jay’s Olympics starts next week, and you will need all your energy for it! Have a great weekend!!

Alec’s Group

Even though we lost some kids last week after the first session ended, the group showed up to play and have some fun in week 5! Joshua K. hit a rocket in t0ball that knocked in some runs and helped his team in a great game. Way to go Josh! In the pool, Louie R. passed from a blue to a white four, making him the first day camper this year to become a white! Great job bud. It was a great fifth week, and with the olympics coming next week, who knows what else is in store for Alec’s group in week 6.

Josh’s Group

Week 5 proved to be even better than week 4. The Hot Wheels had a blast in the different activities that occurred. During swim, Trystan S. was able to do a back float all by himself. So proud of you Trystan! When we went to the rock climbing wall, Ethan N. became the first one in our group to reach the top and ring the bell. Way to go Ethan! The boys had a fantastic week and I am looking forward to many more!

Sports Camp – Week 4

SPORTS CAMP NEWSLETTERS – WEEK 4

Message from Jay…

Where have the four weeks gone. It seems like yesterday when our wonderful and special campers first arrived at Jays. It has been a great few weeks filled with fun, sun, new friends, and most important, happy smiles from all of our special campers! Each and every year for the past 30 years I look forward to the first day of camp. If I could I would be everyones counselor. I will as always be at my special table to play a game with a camper or a group of campers and give them special little gifts to make them happy! Now the second four weeks will start next week. For all of you that are staying get ready for many exciting programs like Jays America Ninja Warrior, American Gladiator, Carnival, Olympics, Crazy Olympics, clubs, classes, interest groups, & more! For those that are leaving I hope you had a great time at Jay’s and you return next year and most important have a safe, healthy, and productive school year for you, your family, and friends. Please look for a special flyer sometime in mid August that will enable you to receive incredible discounts as well as free weeks for next year.

Until then, I will miss all of you.

Fondly,

Jay

Message from Jesse & Alex from Camp of the Arts…

Four weeks down, four weeks to go. We’re halfway through the summer, and as our numbers shrink, we’re gonna continue to have a great time! Oliver N. was a champ at horseback riding this week, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next time. Way to go Oliver! Nathan R. was a huge help for his group in putting together their terrarium. I’m psyched to see how those turn out, and I know they’ll be great as long as Nathan is a part of the process. Max S. raced to the top of the climbing tower, showing that he hasn’t missed a beat while spending time in another group. Good work, buddy. Philip S. showed off his knowledge of cars, helping his friends build some awesome models and Legos. You’re the man, Philip! Ari K. had an awesome time at the water park, showing everyone that his swim lessons have been paying off. It’s been a fun first session, and my only concern is how fast it’s gone by! Until next time…

Emily’s Sports Camp Girls

I cannot believe the fourth week of camp is coming to an end! Between winning the Stanley Cup, World Series, and The World Cup with their leagues teams, these girls have had an amazing time at camp. Melania, Anna H., Josie H., Allie T., and Rachel S. have all played a huge role in their team wins. Rachel and Josie crushed it “on the ice” in their Stanley Cup win. Melania and Anna kicked their way to World Cup championship – way to go!  And Allie had some incredible hits in her team’s World Series win. I could not be more proud of these young women and how hard they have worked to carve out a huge presence for girls in sports camp! Thank you for sharing your children with us and we cannot wait for the next four weeks!

Henry’s Little Giants – SC 2

This week the giants took an amazing field trip to the vernon hills aquatic center on Tuesday. Everyone loved the change from the normal camp activities. Alex A and a few other campers decided it would be fun to have a race in the lazy river. After several hours of fun in the sun we returned back to camp to finish off our league’s championships. Arya V. played in several of the championships including the world series and NBA finals which his team won. These past four weeks have been amazing as we come to a close on our first session. We are all excited as we welcome new giants in the coming weeks.

Brad’s Super Knights – SC 2

I’ve been having a great 4th week of camp with everyone! This week we are doing our finals for soccer, basketball, football, hockey, and baseball. Since not all my campers are on my league time, it’s always a fun rivalry to play against them. Caleb had a huge hit in baseball that soared way above my head into the out field and had 2 RBI’s. I played against Leor for football and luckily for him, his team won the Super Bowl. He had some great shots on goal and stops on defense. I’m so happy to see all my campers succeeding all the sports they do. I’m really happy to have them for the next 4 weeks because they really are great kids and make my job an unforgettable experience.

Dave’s Dominators – SC 3

We finished the first session of Jay’s Camp with a fun day at the water park and league championships. Tuesday we had a full day of racing down slides, doing cannon balls in the pool and relaxing in the lazy rivers. As I said earlier, the week was full of league championships. World Series, Super Bowl, World Cup, Stanley Cup, and the NBA Finals were all played and each kid was able to compete in at least one of the championships. Playoffs at any level are exciting to watch and it was great to see the kids giving their best efforts for the win. I want to close by saying the first session was great and I’m ready to jump into a second 4 weeks. To the kids that won’t be returning I want to say thank you for being very involved and making my job as a counselor easy and for those who will be returning get ready for an awesome second session!

Patrick’s Porcupines – SC 3

The fourth week of camp came around and it was the best week yet. We had the championship league games and everyone was giving it their all to win. During the World Cup game Hayden O. scored a key goal to put his team ahead early in the game. During the exciting World Series game Zachary H. had two great hits and played spectacular in the field. During instructional swim Drew H. was amazing! Drew imposed and continues to improve so much on his strokes. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves to white soon. Sohan Y. showed off his quick reflexes while playing goalie in hockey. Sohan made some incredible saves, and led his team to victory.  With week four coming to a close campers are still having so much fun.

Zach’s Lightening Bolts – SC 3

As we end our first session, the Lighting Bolts show tons of energy to enjoy every last minute of camp. On Monday, the Bolts welcomed a new member Jordan L. and he quickly proved himself dominating in the leagues games and leading his team to a couple championships! We also stopped by to see Rocky Ryan and we saw Max F. climb to the top on all three parts of the rock climbing wall! On Tuesday sports and SAC camp went to a waterpark and what a fun day that was. The weather was great and the lazy river was very relaxing. Ryan J. had a fun week as he enjoyed going down all the slides at the waterpark multiple times and winning a few games of GaGa! On Wednesday we played the championship games for our leagues team and I was lucky enough to have Cuyler H. on my team and what an athlete he is! Although we did not win a championship, Cuyler never gave up hope and kept fighting until that final whistle! As the first session comes to an end, I would like to say goodbye all my kids that are leaving and hope they have a great last week of camp and hopefully I can see them in the future!

Elijah’s Fancy Unicorns – SC 4

The 4th week at Jays Camp was an absolute perfect way to end the 1st four weeks at Jay’s Camp!! Of my new campers, Brian G. showed off how great he was at soccer and basketball this week. He was able to score goals and shoot baskets with ease! He really seemed to enjoy the rock climbing a lot as well. A couple more campers, Lucas B., Miles K., Zack H., all showed off how athletic they really can be in their leagues games. Lucas won the World Cup, and Miles and Zack won the world Series! They were all huge contributors to their team’s successes. Way to go guys! Another camper, Andrew W. revealed how multi-skilled he can be doing extremely well in every activity. To add, he is overall extremely polite and a great listener every single day. Two final campers, Chase H. and Jason C. were great overall campers, participating in everything in addition to doing it with a smile on their faces. They’re true athletes as well, dominating in every sport we play in our group. Way to go Chase and Jason! This week ran extremely smoothly with no complications. I can only hope that second session can live up to the high standards set in the first session.

Tyler K’s Thunder – SC 4

Week 4 already. Where does the time go? Our group had a fantastic week, even with the temperatures as high as they were the group managed to have a great time. Monday saw some fun play during leagues with playoff games being held. Tuesday everyone had a great day at the water park in Vernon Hills. Wednesday wrapped up with a couple of championship leagues games. All the kids were very excited. Nathan S. showed great sportsmanship and respect for his teammates during his time in leagues play, keeping his head up and encouraging the team, even when things weren’t going their way. Zach B. during our time at mini golf course shot a hole in one on two consecutive holes! Jack M. was dominant on the tether ball court winning all of his matches for the day!

Jack’s Pink Fluffy Cheeseburgers – SC 5

What a great way to finish off the first session of camp! It was the boys league championship games this week and they were more competitive than ever! Alex C. played great for his leagues team and played a key part in helping his team to victory. During the Stanley cup playoffs Justin C. was amazing with the puck. He was a threat every time to score! On Tuesday we went to the water park which the kids loved. The tube slide seemed to be a big hit. I’m going to miss the boys who have their last week this week and I’m very excited to finish the year with the remaining group!

Tyler R’s Terrific T-Rex’s – SC 5

Our last week of the first session came up so fast. Our campers loved last Friday as we participated in Wild West Day, full of finding gold, putting people in jail, and plenty of rewards. As we moved into this week we’ve played plenty of leagues and sports. Liam C.’s leagues team played my team in football for a spot in the super bowl. Liam was out there playing wide receiver running past everyone, always open for the long ball. I saw very little plays in which he wasn’t making the defenders look silly. In other sports our group has played a lot of softball in jays stadium this week. We’ve especially come to notice how well Michael V. has been hitting this week. We’re not sure if he’s been weightlifting or something but he’s been hitting the ball much harder and further this week. We look forward to seeing some possible home runs in Michael’s future. Another baseball star that has stood out in my leagues team is Luke M. He has constantly been the 3rd or 4th batter in my leagues team and has always hit a solid line drive to the fence. His on base percentage is through the roof, must be batting over .500! My leagues team always looks forward to every time Luke steps up to the plate because we know he’s always someone we can count on. We’ve had a great first 4 weeks and we look forward to another upcoming 4!

Charlie’s Angels – SC 6/7

In the last week of this sessions ESPN scouting report, Alex W. made quite the astonishing appearance in his first week here at camp. The way Alex snagged those balls straight from the air really made me questions why he isn’t already winning the Golden Glove award. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. His hands basically have super glue on them and he does not drop ANYTHING. Ty H. also came in for the first time this week with huge bombs over fantasy field. His stance really resembles Babe Ruth himself and the stroke of his bat is that of an MLB star. If he isn’t awarded best bat of all time then I really don’t know who deserves it. Patrick K. was also dominating in this weeks scouting report in football. During the semi finals, Patrick made a few grabs that really changed the outcome of the game. I’ve never seen someone perform so well under pressure and be able to maintain a cool head. This kid could very well be the next best wide receiver.

Ari’s Angels – SAC 2

Ari’s Angels ended the first session with a bang! The class performances really allowed the girls to show off their hard work. Aaliyah did an incredible job with her gymnastics skills and nailed the routine perfectly! Adora wowed us with her 80’s rock inspired dance and even got lifted into the air! Thanks again for another awesome week girls!!

Val’s Violets – SAC 2

The last week of the first session has been so fun, but bittersweet! I can’t believed camp is halfway over. I have missed Lily, but hoping her trip in Kenya has been a blast and because Caitlin only comes three days a week having her around this week has been a blast. Although she misses some parts of the week, she is always a compliment to our group and is willing to work to cooperate. Way to go Caitlin! Isabella also has had a really great week! She has been so fast to change for swim and even has been the first one to leave the locker room. Good job Isabella! It is sad knowing that there are only 4 fast week left, but I look forward to them as they come. Yay!!!

Kaleigh’s KooKoo Krocodiles – SAC 3

I can’t believe how fast these 4 weeks have flown by!! Jane is the everything girl. Her intelligence carries her far.  She is very precise in all of her activities and is always on task.  She’s a team player and we are lucky to have her go get em’ attitude! She’s quick, loud, and creative in all ways.  She dominates in ninja and zip zap zop, a true tough competitor. And then we have Abby who is a pleasure to have, making it a hard time to let her go on Wednesdays.  She exerts so much energy and fun into every activity, she is a great component at jays! This week Sammie showed how quick, loud, and creative she is with dominating in ninja and zip zap zoo – a true tough competitor! Maahi is a team player in our group, she is always excited and up for anything fun! She is always finding unique and silly ways to make sur any activity is fun for others. She’s totally a pleasure to be around. I’m really looking forward to the next 4 weeks with my girls!

Vivian’s Valentines – SAC 3

Hello and here we’ve come with the last week of the first session! What a great first session Vivian’s Valentines had! We’ve really missed Emerson and we hope she is having a great trip! In the upcoming session we have a new camper joining our group, Yoonsey, and all of us are looking forward to meeting her and welcoming her. Annabella this week showed off her big muscles on the rock climbing wall this week and climbed all the way to the top. Hailey N. showed off her acting in the Lion King this week during performances, she took on four different roles, Rafiki, Timon, Pumba, and Scar! Chloe C. did great in the gymnastics show all while showering off her flexibility. Can’t wait for another great session with all of Vivian’s Valentines.

Amanda’s Pandas – SAC 4

I CANNOT believe the first session is over!!! The Panda’s have had so much fun these last four weeks and it’s so sad for me to think that it’s half way over! But it’s okay because we have 4 more weeks of fun coming up!! This week we went to the water park where Ruby thrived in the lazy river and water slides. She is meant for the water! We also had performances this week where Ava showed off her amazing aquarium that she made in art class these last four weeks. It looked absolutely perfect, I loved watching you make it!! The Panda’s are so sad to say goodbye to Sara K. this week, we are really going to miss you!! Have a great school year and I hope to see you next summer! As for the rest of you, get ready for an unforgettable second session!! Love you!

Sam’s Sweethearts – SAC 4

This week Sam’s Sweethearts had a great time at the water park! I had a great time going down the water slide with Ivy! Congrats on getting me to go down the water slide, Ivy! Avery and Aden also had a great time at the water park! I think they really enjoyed the lazy river. It has been such a pleasure to have both Taylor L. and Taylor G. in my group this session! Taylor G. gives the best hugs everyday and is always happy to be at camp! Taylor L. is always happy to do every activity at camp without complaining, which is such a great asset to have in our group. I can’t believe that we have come to the end of first session at Jays Camp! Sam’s Sweethearts has had such a great few weeks, and I am sad to see a few of my campers leave! I have really enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them! They are such great girls and I wish them luck with their upcoming year!

Elana’s Elvis Elephants – SAC 5

We’ve had such a fun and final week of the first session! I can’t believe how fast time has gone!! We had Rachel V. come join our group this week and everyone was so excited to have her back! This week we went to the water park and Danielle joined me on the lazy river and we had so so much fun! Caroline R. was super enthusiastic about instructional swim this week and it made everyone else in the group so excited to swim! I’m so sad that we’re half way done with camp already but can’t wait for another amazing session!

Rachelle’s Rabbits – SAC 5

On Tuesday we went to the Vernon Hills waterpark and while we were there I got to spend a lot more 1 on 1 time with Kate! I learned a lot more about her and her family and we had an amazing time relaxing on the lazy river and hanging out in the pool! During free time we played our own little game of Jays Got Talent! Rachel sang a song and I was so blown away by her voice! I never really knew that she liked to sing so hearing her really impressed me and I love seeing her coming out of her shell! Nice job, Rachel! I hope to see more if it second session! We also went to the treehouse where Lauren B. caught frogs which was pretty neat! She always seem like a very big nature girl so I was not surprised to see this! I had a memorable first session and I’m very sad to see Elizabeth and Jaden go but happy I have one more session with my other girls!!

Nikki’s Nemos – SAC 6

This week were performances, and everyone did an amazing job! Bianca P. and Brooke J. rocked it in the dance performance. Also, Bianca showed off her gymnast moves in gymnastics. We also got to see how great Ester V.’s gymnastics moves are! She is very talented! Brooke is finishing off her last week of first session, and unfortunately, won’t be coming back! We are going to miss her so much! However, Nikki’s Nemos are excited to start second session and to continue having the time of our lives at Jay’s Camp!

Ali’s Angels – SAC 7/8

Ali’s Angels has had a great fourth week wrapping up the first session. We welcomed Brooklyn to our group this week. A lovely seasoned Jay’s camper, she is easygoing and adds a lot of fun to our group. She was an enthusiastic participant when we did leagues, which is always appreciated. Thanks Brooke! Chloe was another star camper this week. Chloe is athletic and artistic and does very well in both sports and arts. Great job Chloe! Also, McKenna did great this week! She is a supporting teammate and is always willing to go with the flow. We played a short game of dodgeball against the day campers the other day, and she was very enthusiastic about it and had fun with them! I can’t wait to see what exciting things second session brings us!

Message from Stephanie…

It is hard to believe that camp is half way done already! These past 4 weeks have been a blast and have flown by.  Each day the campers continue to amaze me with their amazing sportsmanship and their unique talents.   This week the campers had a fabulous time during Superhero day going around camp trying to find all the hidden symbols and tasks around camp!

It is sad to say goodbye to some of the great friends that we made this summer but we can’t wait for the fun that we have in store for next session. To those campers that will be leaving us I hope you all have a great rest of the summer and a wonderful school year!  I cannot wait to see all of your smiling faces back here next summer!

You will all be definitely missed.

It’s hard to believe that half the year is already gone, but time flies when you’re having fun! To start off the week, Joshua K hit a home run in t-ball that sailed over the outfield’s head. Way to go kiddo! In the pool, Arav F. passed from a green to a red and is now able to go down the water slide! Great job Arav! Well, that’s it for this week. It has been a great first session and I can’t wait for another great four weeks with a great group of kids.

Josh’s Hot Wheels

It is hard to believe that the first four weeks of camp are already over. They just flew by!

This week during swim, Jonah A. passed from a green to a red. Way to go buddy! In the same week, Jacob H. also passed from a green to a red. Awesome job Jacob! Also during basketball, Trystan S. looked like a spinning image of Michael Jordan as he made almost every shot he took. Keep up the good work Trystan! What a great first four weeks it was for the Hot Wheels and I am looking forward to the next four with this phenomenal group of boys!

Message from Nick, Jesse, & Emily…

We can’t believe that week three has already passed. We have really enjoyed spending time with all of the campers and seeing how much fun they are having. The campers have excelled in leagues, swim, and so much more! This Friday for our mass program we had Wild West Day. The campers did things like relays, eating at the saloon, and shopping at the general store! We can’t wait to see everyone next week! Have an awesome weekend.

Nick, Jesse, and Emily

Message from Jesse & Alex from Camp of the Arts…

How is it possible that three weeks have already passed us by? It feels like just yesterday we were meeting each other at orientation. The camp of the arts fellas didn’t disappoint this week despite the weather. Andrew D. was practicing his lacrosse skills on the tennis courts. He’s steadily improving, and one day he’ll be taking the lax world by storm! Nikita C. raced to the top of the climbing tower, impressing all of his groupmates. Way to go Nikita! Zack D. helped his group get some crucial shots for their “Revenge of the Frogs” movie. We’re beginning to edit and I think we have a real blockbuster on our hands. Daniel L. worked on the guitar and keyboard at music. Maybe he’ll be writing the award-winning score for his group’s movie. Matt K. showed off in pottery, making a clay creation that surely got the attention of the Art Institute. Great job, Matt! It’s been a fun three weeks, and week four should be one for the books as we head to the waterpark for our field trip.

Emily’s Sports Camp Girls

Henry’s Little Giants

The Little Giants returned after the long holiday weekend ready for a brand new week of camp. On Tuesday numbers were small as only two of the giants were at camp, despite our numbers being small our spirits were as large as they are every week as Landon W kept everyone excited for what the day had in store. He was constantly eager to do every activity despite the small numbers and continually found new and interesting ways to energize each activity with his fellow giant. On Wednesday all of the campers split into their teams for leagues and we played football. As the game came to a close, it was neck and neck between the two teams. But it was but Brian W who made a critical block to allow his teammate to scramble up the field to put his team in scoring position with only seconds left in the game. Rather than calling for the ball Brian made the selfless play to allow his team to take the lead and eventually win the game. The Little Giants continue to grow as a unit and develop new friendships with the other campers.

Brad’s Super Knights

We’ve been having a fantastic week at Jay’s Camp. It’s so fun talking and playing with my group the “Super Knights”. I’ve been getting to know everyone more and it makes my job feel less like a job and more of just having fun. It was fun to see Ari improve his knowledge of sports and other activities. He’s learning the basics of every sport but especially soccer and baseball. After teaching him how the game is played he’s really catching on and I can see true athletic potential in him. Good job Ari! I’d like to give a special shoutout to Henry too. He’s making himself a dominant player. I had fun playing with the frisbee today, and I know we’ll have more fun in the future. He gave Ari some help saying “If you don’t forget any of your stuff today, I’ll give you one of my cookies”. Lucky enough, Ari remembered all of his things thanks to the help of Henry. It’s great to see my group getting along and helping each other out, which is what we stand for here at camp. Can’t wait for next week!

Dave’s Dominators

The third week of sports camp was shorten due to the holidays but was still full of excitement. Aydyn L. played a great janitor for our drama game of museum. He won the game in record speed. It’s still great to see the kids excelling in both the arts and sports especially. Matthew R. did very well in hockey leading his team to a 17-5 victory. Matthew had 7 goals in the win. Friday was Wild West Day which was a great way to end the week. As we come into the final week of the first session I just want to say it’s been great working with your kids. I look forward to seeing them all for week 4.

Patrick’s Porcupines

The third week has snuck up on most of the campers. Even though it was a shorter week we still had a lot of fun. First off we had Aarav A. he showed off his excellent swimming skills and should be advancing to white soon! Aaron also showed off his excellent defending skills in hockey and soccer. Next we have Daniel K. he showed the group how to jump high and soar far in gymnastics. Daniel was the showed off how far he can jump and how great he was at tumbling. Daniel also exhibited some great basketball skills. Daniel was a stand out during leagues and also beat the counselor. As the week comes to an end campers are excited for whats to come.

Zach’s Lightening Bolts

After a long 3 day weekend the Lightning Bolts we’re excited to jump back into their sports camp schedule and begin a new week! The Lightning Bolts started the new week by playing a round of mini golf and also taking a breather inside to make some art. After swimming, the Lightning Bolts wait to go back to the tent and I have noticed Caden A. and Sam R. go dig in dirt to find rocks and minerals. These two enjoy exploring the underground of Earths surface and end up finding awesome artifacts to keep! On Wednesday, the Bolts played Ga Ga before having instructional swim before gearing up for some football. After lunch, all the third graders joined together to play hockey where I saw Austin M. or Jocker score 5 goals to help lead his team to victory.

Elijah’s Fancy Unicorns

Week 3 a Jay’s was so much fun, especially with Friday being wild west day! This week overall was a very solid week for both my group and sports camp all together. One of my campers, Logan S., really showed me his athleticism this week in not only his main sport, hockey, but also in football and baseball. In addition to that, he was always excited to do any activity whether it be soccer or dance. Another camper, Charlie N, also really showed me how truly athletic he can be overall in pretty much every sport. I noticed this in baseball when he threw the ball a couple times. He’s got such a great arm for throwing! Charlie has overall been one of the most consistent player in all sports. Another camper, Zach H, really showed me how much he absolutely loves to do everything at camp. In addition to being a very athletic 4th grader, he also showed how much he loves pottery which we go to on Wednesdays. I always love seeing what project hes going to make that week. One final camper, Charlie R, just like Charlie R, showed off his overall athleticism this week. Whether it be basketball, baseball, football, hockey, or soccer, Charlie always seems to be not only loving playing the game, but playing extremely well at the same time. Way to go Charlie! Week 3 has come to a close a Jay’s and I’m only hoping that the 4th week can be just as much fun to close out a great first session.

Tyler K’s Thunder

Week 3 was a shortened week thanks to the 4th of July being Monday. Still with the short week our group had a pretty exciting time. Gabe T during morning leagues play caught a touchdown to bring his team closer to victory. Wednesday is always an exciting day for the group, we get to have our time on the rock climbing tower and Michael Z got his Everest Card by scaling the tower and recording an amazing time. Max A during our trampoline games time Wednesday had a great performance on playing spaceball, winning his only match of the day 5-1.

Jack’s Pink Fluffy Cheeseburgers

What a great week of cap after returning from the fourth! During leagues Brandon E. was scoring goal after goal in soccer. I had mistaken him for Ronaldo out there. Later in the day we played softball. Jackson L. hit a walk off home run! It was an exciting finish to a great game. We played basketball on Wednesday and Dylan E. was making buckets. He has one of the best shots I’ve ever seen. I’m having so much fun with this amazing group and I know we will continue to have a great time!

Tyler R’s Terrific T-Rex’s

The group ended week 2 with an exciting day of celebration of the 4th of July. We had a day full of relay races and games, even decorating the gocarts in red, white, and blue. Camp resumed Tuesday and we split up into our leagues teams first thing in the morning. My leagues team played Elijah’s team on the fantasy field for a game of softball and Brandon S, really took advantage of the fence. With Elijah’s team down a few runs early in the game Brandon got a hold of a ball and took it at least 150 yards way over the fence. Not only did he a home run but he drove in 3 runs giving his team the lead and eventually the win. Later in the week on Wednesday the group and I took our talents to the mini golf course. Veer P. smoked me in a quick round of 9 winning by 6 or 7 shots. By the 3rd hole I was already at 16 strokes and Veer was at 6, you can say I was embarrassed. Right after mini golf we stepped onto the basketball court, split up teams and played a nice game of ball. We had a blast on the court, and the game was close 1816 up to 21. Jack S. gave his team a demanding lead when he threw up a great looking hook shot surprising everyone. He had that sky hook mastered, looking like Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He also gave the game winning pass to Connor W. who drained the three for the win. It was an exciting week and we look forward to the next week!

Charlie’s Angels

Counting down the days till the season is over our scouting report has never been better. This week Zach M showed the most talent I’ve ever seen out of anyone in hockey. Slapshot after slapshot, wrister after wrister Zach was non stop scoring. The new era of nhl players is coming soon and I think he will be a top recruit. Lastly Brandon S was ripping softballs over fantasy field like no one has ever done before. He was hitting it farther than most adults could hit it. If I’m not speaking complete mambo jumbo he could possibly be going #1 overall.

Val’s Violets

Although this week was cut short due to the Fourth, the Violets have managed to make the best of camp yet again! This week during swim, we have been working on several things such as front floats, back floats, and rotary breathing. Khloe G. is in the yellow level with me and this Thursday she perfected her front AND back float! Way to go, Khlo! We also celebrated a birthday this week of someone who has been so well-behaved and a great listener, Charlotte! Happy birthday and good job this week girl. Jay’s just keeps getting better!

Kaleigh’s KooKoo Krocodiles

Week 3 has been great and I can’t believe how fast this summer is flying by! This week Maddy showed her creativity like no other, she is an art wiz.  She loves to put her flare on every project and is always making sure she is on task to complete every project.  It is no doubt that Maddy has a gift with the arts as she shines in any classes and activities that have to do with arts. Eleanor loves everything about camp! She has an amazing attitude towards most activities. you mention anything and she screams of excitement. She is always in her bathing suit because she never wants to pass up a moment of swim time.  She is a bubbly spirit and a complete fire of energy to have around. Although Bella isn’t here with us at Jays every day of the week, she leaves a huge impact on the days she is here.  She is a great friend to her campers, and she’s always smiling and making sure the activity is enjoyable for everyone around her.  She is always excited for whats next.  Great enthusiasm Bella!

Vivian’s Valentines

Hello Jay’s Camp!!! Vivian’s Valentines had a great third week of camp! Madeline B. really showed off her drama skills this week by playing Statues! Katie S. really showed off her flexibility in gymnastics this week doing her kart wheels. Jessi K. was very generous this week by letting all the girls use her harness on the rock climbing wall, and in swimming by demonstrating to all the girls how to do the swimming strokes the right way! Another great week and many more to come!!!

Amanda’s Pandas

How is the first session more than half way over? This summer is flying by and it needs to slow down!! The Panda’s are getting along so well and I couldn’t be more proud of them! Phoebe S. loves Jay’s Stadium and got so into dodgeball this week! You are for sure a force to be reckoned with, Phoeb! Sylvia F. was a true artist this week as she completed her chalk board mosaic page! It looked so professional, Syl, you have so much talent!! It’s hard to believe that next week is the last week of the session! Have a great weekend and rest up because we have performances just around the corner!! Xoxo

Sam’s Sweethearts

Sam’s Sweethearts had a great third week of camp! I was happy to hear that everyone had an enjoyable Fourth of July weekend with family and friends. This week Stefi had the opportunity to go to horseback riding for the first time! I’m so happy that she had an awesome time there with the horses! Also this week our group played mini golf and Talia was the winner with the lowest score! Way to go Talia! I can’t wait to have another fun week, especially since it will be the last for a few of the girls in our group because it is the last week of first session! It’s crazy how fast this summer is going!

Elana’s Elvis Elephants

We’ve had such a fun third week with the Elvis Elephants! At gymnastics this week we played the game “Jump the River” Gabby O. made it the farthest she’s ever gotten! She was so excited and I was so happy for her! At music, Ella S. showed off her awesome talent of playing the piano! Everyone in our group stood around her and was so excited. Alexa D. showed off her excitement at volleyball on Wednesday and got everyone in the group excited to play even though it was really hot out! Abigail A. was super excited to go to every activity this week and everyone had an extremely positive attitude because of that! This has been an exciting third week and I can’t believe there’s only 1 more week of the first session left.

Rachelle’s Rabbits

Even though it was super hot during dance, Ilana kept up the energy and really got the group going! Victoria has been going horse back riding for the past 2 weeks and really enjoys it! She always comes back in a great mood so it makes me happy that she has the option to go and do that! Each week I’ve loved spending time with the girls and getting the opportunity to get to know each girl a little bit better.

Nikki’s Nemos

This week, Nikki’s Nemos started making lanyards, and Sophia H. Has learned how to do it. She has already made two whole lanyards and they look awesome! Also, Maddie M. won several races to the top of the rock climbing wall. Great job Maddie!! We’re all looking forward to Wild West day this Friday, and the rest of camp to come!

Ali’s Angels

It has been another excellent week with Ali’s Angels! This week, we welcomed Lexie (Ellie) to our group. She’s already brought us lots of laughs with her fun and open personality! Ashley, a long-time Jay’s camper, has been extra kind, showing her around and being a good pal. Rachel has been a great leader this week as well. She is confident and respectful and an overall fabulous camper. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing group of girls! We’re all looking forward to another fun week!

It is hard to believe that the first session of camp is more than half way done. This week the campers had a great time during Wild West day buying toys from the general store, getting their hair and nails done, and searching for gold. Next week we are looking forward to superhero day on Friday as well as a pool party on Tuesday! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces on Monday!

Morgan’s Candy Girls

I can’t believe three weeks of camp have gone by already! Time really does fly by when you are having fun, which is exactly what the Candy Girls had!! When the girls went to the rocking climbing wall, Amelia B. got all the way to top! She was even able to ring the bell that was up there! Way to go Amelia! I am so proud of you! At the playground this week, Sidney R. did the monkey bars for the first time! She did such an amazing job and was so excited that she went twice! I am so glad you like the monkey bars now Sid! What a fantastic week the Candy Girls had!! Rest up girls! We have so much more planned for next week, and you will need all your energy for it! Have an amazing weekend girls!

Alec’s Power Team Campers

Despite a day off on Monday for the fourth and some rain during the week, our group found even more ways to have a great time at Jays. Adit M played like a star on the basketball court and even beat me in a game of one-on-one! Great moves kiddo! Away from the court, Jacob S got his short game going on the green and sunk a couple spectacular hole-in-one’s at mini golf! Way to go, Jacob! With Wild West day on the horizon, the kids are gearing up for some more fun times at Jays. Way to bring the energy guys, and I can’t wait for another great week at camp!

Josh’s Hot Wheels

I can’t believe that week three is already over! The boys had a blast this week in all the different activities that occurred. During swim, Anthony K. was able to do a back float all by himself. So proud of you Anthony! When we went to the rock climbing wall, Cole N. became the first one in our group to reach the top and ring the bell. Way to go Cole! Yet again, it was a fantastic week for the Hot Wheels and I’m looking forward to many more!

Morgan’s Candy Girls

What a great week the Candy Girls had! There were so many funny activities we did this week starting with Lori G. climbing so high on the rock climbing tower! You are so close to ringing the bell! Keep practicing and maybe next time you will! Last week in swim Kala V. passed from a green to a red in swimming! I am so proud of you and all of your hard work! You can go on the water slide now! I hope the girls had a wonderful week like I did! Rest up girls! Next week should be just as fun as this week!! Have a wonderful weekend and happy Fourth of July!

Josh’s Hot Wheels

Week two proved to be a great week for the hot wheels! It was full of fun activities. One of these included space ball/jump shot where Jacob H. beat all of his competitors in some very intense games. Way to go Buddy! At the playground Owen P. soared through the monkey bars at the speed of light. Fantastic job Owen! Lastly Collin G. raced threw the obstacle course leaving his competitors in the dust! Way to go buddy! The boys had a phenomenal week and I’m certain there will be plenty more to come.

Alec’s Power Team Campers

It was another great week here at jays, and the boys showed some great talent this week! To start things off, Collin M. breezed through the obstacle course and set a record time! Great job buddy, keep it up! On the kickball field, Rohan S. launched the ball and had an inside the park home run! Way to go! Well, it was another great week and I look forward to many more. Keep it up boys!

Sports Camp – Week 2

Message from Nick, Jesse, & Emily…

The second week was a great one, we can’t believe that it is already over! This week we faced some cold weather but still had a fun time. We continued this week with our league play and got to see all the talent that our campers have. We really have enjoyed this week and are looking forward to the following weeks to come! Have a great and safe holiday weekend!!

Nick, Jesse, and Emily

Message from Jesse & Alex from Camp of the Arts…

It’s hard to believe it’s already been two weeks, but here we are one quarter of the way through the Summer! The camp of the arts boys have been on a roll, continuing to impress Alex and I with their abilities. Sam V. shook the ping pong universe going toe-to-toe with several counselors, and beating me. Way to go Sam! Gabe H. helped lead his group in making their movie, showing that he may have a lot of talent for directing. Maybe we’ll be seeing him at the Oscars one day! Kyle A. had a great time building model cars throughout the week; we may have a twenty-first century Henry Ford on our hands! Noah D. showed off his jockey skills at horse riding, and with all he’s learning at archery, we seem to have a real life knight at Jay’s! Awesome work, fellas! Can’t wait for

next week!

Emily’s Sports Camp Girls

Week two has been incredible.  The girls had a blast playing leagues with sports camp  – they really held their own and became assets to each of their teams.  Melania B. Was a super star at football during leagues and helped to lifeguard the pool during free swim – happy birthday, Melania!  And Rachel S. was truly a rockstar winning a dance contest against all of the sports camp boys – such bravery and courage!  Thank you for your girls. They are such an incredible group, and I am very lucky to be their counselor.

Henry’s Little Giants – SC 2

The little giants are back at it again with a Birthday early in the week. We all celebrated Eli M’s birthday with donuts he brought in and by playing his favorite activity hockey. As the day closed out Eli was given a pack of baseball cards from his favorite team the Chicago White Sox to cap off an amazing birthday celebration. This week we welcomed two brand new giants to the group. First we welcomed Colin M who quickly got acclimated to the group as he danced around the stage in front of everyone like his favorite athlete, an elephant, and a turtle, in one of the groups new favorite activities freeze dance. The second giant to join everyone one was Henry R. Henry had a spectacular catch in football to make a critical first down to help tie up the game. Despite having troubles in the beginning of the game, Henry continued to cut across the field until he got open and eventually made his miraculous play. The little giants are coming together to make a giant family amongst the campers as their relationships with each other grow. It has been an exciting week for everyone.

Brad’s Super Knights – SC 2

I’m so proud of my “Super Knights” this week. We have all been trying our hardest and improving at every sport we’ve been playing. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Ilan for hitting some bombers during baseball and getting some touchdowns in football. He’s athleticism and determination will bring him far in his sports career. He’s not the only one doing great, I’d also like to mention Alex on his great swimming ability and dancing. He was speeding through the water and busting out some crazy dance moves up on stage. I’m really looking forward to another week of fun with all my kids, it’s great to see them improving everyday.

Dave’s Dominators – SC 3

We had a great second week for Sports Camp. All the Dominators are improving in every activity they are doing whether it be sports or the arts. Monday started in an exciting way with Brandon M’s. birthday celebration. In art the kids made a great Fourth of July piece. Hopefully they all made it home to be put on the fridge. Of course leagues have continued throughout the week. Dillon N. stood out in soccer by playing some outstanding goalie and defense. The improvement the kids are making in these sports is always impressive. As we come into the third week I hope to see even more competitive games while upholding the sportsmanship that is so important here at Jay’s. We concluded the week with many fun activities including the rock climbing wall with Rocky Ryan. Aidan K. went up and down a total of ten times. Overall it was a fun week two and I look forward to seeing the kids for the start of the third week.

Patrick’s Porcupines – SC 3

The second week of camp came quick and the campers are excited for some new activities. We had a couple of special stand out campers this week. First off we had Mark G. Mark showed off his supreme climbing skills. Mark climbed all three sections of the wall with ease. Mark also helped out other campers once he was finished. Next we had Alex H. Alex displayed some excellent football skills. Alex caught many catches and scored a couple touchdowns. Alex also did extremely well is soccer. Alex was the teams best defender. The group is excited for the third week!

Zach’s Lightening Bolts – SC 3

After a great week 1, I was wondering how the Lightning Bolts would keep up their great energy and love for sport and it was obvious that while playing mini golf on Monday, there was no loss of energy in these kids! The kids brought great energy while trying to defeat their counselor in mini golf and had a blast with Rocky Ryan at the climbing tower where I saw Caden S. climb to the top not one, not two but three times! On Tuesday we started with tether ball where all the kids finally took me, their all mighty counselor down. From tether ball we went to play hockey and also went to art to make stars for the 4th of July. Wednesday we started with Gameworld where all the kids had a blast playing pool, air hockey, ping pong and foosball. After shooting some hoops we went do gymnastics and even though some weren’t a fan of gymnastics, everyone had fun competing in a jumping contest where I saw Allen B. make it to the championship round!

Elijah’s Fancy Unicorns – SC 4

Week 2 at Jay’s was just as perfect as the first. I got a few new campers this week which only meant more fun for everyone! I had a few stand out campers this week just like last. One camper, Blake G, really showed off his overall athleticism by dominating in almost any activity we did in the group as well as loving the specials like pottery and drama. Way to go Blake! Another camper, Ryan H, also really showed how great he can be at the smaller games such as skee ball and ping ping. He really seems to love doing activities in game world and drama as well. One final camper, Jack B, really shined when in Jay’s stadium playing hockey, scoring goals against almost everyone in the group. He also is excited about any activity we have in our daily schedule. Overall, this week ran extremely smoothly and can only hope for a week just as smooth next week.

Tyler K’s Thunder – SC 4

Week 2 of camp got off to a hot start with the temp exceeding 90 yet again. Needless to say the kids were excited to swim in the morning and afternoon Monday. In other group news, Tuesday during our time at game world, Dan L. set the high score on the arcade basketball game scoring 22 total points in 30 seconds. Elliot D. won 3 intense games of Gaga on Tuesday afternoon, establishing his dominance in the pits. Finally on Wednesday during morning leagues play, Roman B. made an outstanding catch on the baseball field, running forward full speed, arms fully extended and falling to the ground.

Jack’s Pink Fluffy Cheeseburgers – SC 5

This second week of camp was very eventful. In baseball, Bryce D. was unstoppable. He reached base every time. Later that day while on the rock climbing wall, Caden N. climbed it faster than anyone I’ve seen. On Wednesday, Brayden G. was a young Babe Ruth out there. I think he could’ve played with us in our counselor softball games!! I’m so excited for the rest of summer with this exciting group.

Tyler R’s Terrific T-Rexs – SC 5

We jumped straight into week two from an exciting and action packed week one. Day by day our campers continue to bond and form new relationships everyday. On Monday we made our way to the bocce ball/Gaga station where we played 4 or 5 games. In each and every game Blake W. shined bright and dominated the game, knocking out most of the group including myself. Blake must of won at least 3 games making it look like a walk in the park for himself. Shortly after Gaga the group made it over to the rock climbing tower, and with the help of Rock Climbing Ryan we had an excellent time. Evan B. put on a show climbing all sides of the wall and making it to the top 3 or 4 times. After how easy this looked for him there’s a good chance he’ll be scaling everest next week. I look forward to seeing more outstanding performances by the group!

Charlie’s Angels – SC 6/7

In this weeks Espn report Caden P. showed up big time in the most competitive softball game yet. The kid was unreal getting on base every at bat and smacking the ball to dead center for a double. Next up in the report is Cam S., no doubt his hockey skills are off the charts and this kid could very well be the next Wayne Gretzky. Seriously I’ve never seen a kid with such passion for his sport and put in so much effort to win. Finally coming up last in this weeks ESPN scouting report is Konrad. This kid is basically Usain Bolt in disguise, I’ve never seen someone’s legs churn so fast in such a small amount of time. He puts fire behind all his kicks in soccer and everyone including the goalies are even afraid to stand in front of him.
