Tween Scene 2018 Program
Built exclusively for our 6th-9th grade campers.
Designed to strike a balance between providing structure and independence.
All of the wonderful programming for SAC and Sports Camp, with more choice!
Why Create a Tween Scene Program?
Over the years, we’ve found that many of our older campers have opted to take advantage of our wonderful on-site programs, while opting out of traditional Tween Field Trip program. We’ve also noticed that our middle school campers crave independence and choice.
The Jay’s Camp Tween Scene program offers an innovative way to meet the developmental needs of our oldest campers while still allowing them the opportunity to enjoy the Jay’s Camp traditions they love the most.
What exactly is the Jay’s Camp Tween Scene?
We’ve modeled our Jay’s Camp Tween Scene Program after some of the best programs offered on Cruises. Campers will be offered a menu of fun activities in the afternoons including:
- Co-ed sports
- Bike riding
- A music stage
- Expanded ceramics offerings
- Card tournaments
- Spike Ball
- Bags Tournaments
- Daily camper and counselor challenges
- The choice to swim in the afternoon
- Expanded opportunities to be mentored by amazing staff
- Time to socialize with new and old friends
- Weekly cookout in special Tween area of campgrounds
All Jay’s Camp campers and CITs entering 7th-9th grade will automatically be enrolled in the Jay’s Camp Tween Scene. Participation in the Jay’s Camp Tween Scene program includes our marquee programming like Competitive Leagues, SAC Performance, and COA Invention Convention. Additional field trip opportunities will be offered to our Tween Scene participants for a nominal fee.
Jay’s Camp Tween Scene will maintain a structured schedule in the morning including a newly revamped Red Cross Junior Lifeguard Program. The afternoon will offer many new opportunities for campers to interact with each other and our dynamic staff in a more engaging and age-appropriate program.
Jay’s Camp Tween Scene campers will have more personalized access to the our grounds than before! They will enjoy a new sense of independence at camp—while under the watchful eye of our trained staff.
The Jay’s Camp Tween Scene Program will be coeducational and meet daily at the end of each afternoon. Campers will still be assigned to a group with a counselor for times outside of the program.
We believe that campers need the strong bonds formed in our small groups. It is our hope that our new tween program will embolden our campers to move beyond their tight-knit camp group and socialize with a wide-range of campers in their age groups.
